Our story – from two horses to an association
Welcome to Tierhilfe Rhön e.V.
Tierhilfe Rhön e.V. was founded for a very special reason: the rescue of two horses – Whitney and Picasso. When we heard about their fate, we could not look away.
The Beginning
Both horses had previously lived in poor conditions and were in poor nutritional health. Their thin bodies made it clear that they urgently needed help. With great dedication, time, and heart, we took in Whitney and Picasso and began to lovingly care for and nurse them back to health.
Picasso
Unfortunately, Picasso was so weakened by his age, health problems, and the effects of his previous conditions that we had to sadly let him go after six months. He had initially recovered and gained weight. But his body was so compromised that one morning he could no longer get up, and despite all our efforts, we could no longer help him.
His story touched us deeply – and it is one of the reasons why we continue our work today with full conviction.
Whitney – on the path to a new life
Whitney is our 31-year-old pony mare and lives happily on our farm. When she came to us, she was severely underweight and could barely walk — a sight that moved us all deeply. Since then she has been making progress step by step: she receives regular physiotherapy, gets a special high-energy feed of Heucobs (because her dental problems prevent her from eating normal hay), and is about to receive an urgently needed dental treatment. With great patience and dedication, we are giving her a dignified and as pain-free a retirement as possible.

Whitneys Weg — Eindrücke
Help for many animals
Tierhilfe Rhön e.V. does not only care for horses. We regularly receive emergency cases – such as abandoned kittens, injured or neglected animals. Our goal is to help animals in need, give them protection, and give them a second chance.
